First Wii U Dump Surfaces – ISOs to Pour in

A heavy blow has been dealt to Nintendo today. The first ISO of a Wii U game has been published to the internet.

Wii U Key

Scene group VENOM have succeeded in using the Wii U’s disc drive to dump a copy of The Avengers – Battle for Earth. This means the Wii U’s security is one of the weakest in the latest gen, just as the Wii had weak security. Investors backing Nintendo will not be too happy with this news.

At the point of writing, there is no way to load the ISO on the Wii U, but the team behind the Xbox 360 xKey will soon have a Wii U version released, allowing you to load all your backup games on your Wii U.

More info will be published as we get it.

Rogero 4.30 CFW v2.05

Rogero has updated his custom firmware for you modded PlayStation 3 users out there. The new update brings some new changes, including a “Toolbox” (which is a renamed app_home/PS3_GAME).

ToolboxOther changes include an updated package installer and a Cinavia patch care of Team Rebug. Check out the changelog:

v2.05

* Added the Cinavia Patched Video Player module to disable the Cinavia Protection on HDD based content ( Credits to Team Rebug for the module )
* Added the new patches that allowed the return of the Original “*Install Package Files” and “Install All Packages”, Credits to Szalay and “hidden Man”.
* Updated Dean’s “*Install Package files” (Toolbox in v2.05) on [app_home] to the latest version that doesn’t requires additional HDD space or a PS3 Restart anymore.
* All the previous features of version 2.03 are all preserved.

D2X CIOS Released for Wii U

First new post of the new year, davebaol has updated D2x CIOS for the Wii and Wii U platforms. You can now use the Wii Mode on your Wii U to run Wii backups.

d2xcioslogo

Let me stress you can’t use this to play Wii U backups, but rather Original Wii Titles on your Wii U. The release comes in 2 flavors and 2 versions. One version is for the Original Wii, the section is for the Wii U and is labeled vWii (Virtual Wii). For flavors, you have the regular and alt. alt gives you less NAND compatibility but both USB ports can be used, while regular is the opposite. For the full changelog:

d2x cIOS beta v10 changelog
- Added support for Virtual Wii bases 56/57/58.
- Reverted to r43, i.e. last v8 revision. Also ported some useful fixes and
features from r49, i.e. last v9 revision, especially:
* Fixed an EHCI issue in ReadCapacity that prevented certain usb devices from
working (tnx to digicroxx).
* Fixed an EHCI issue in GetDescriptors that prevented certain usb devices
from working (tnx to digicroxx).
* Removed from ciosmaps.xml the patch to skip the process id check inside
os_software_IRQ(4).
* Fixed content id for bases 60/70/80 in ciosmaps.xml (tnx to dragbe).
* Added maked2x.sh to build the cios on Linux (tnx to r-win).
* Added stripios source to svn.
* Removed the easter egg introduced by Waninkoko in cios rev20.
* Minor changes and code clean up.

Given the nature of how often the d2x releases change, I won’t mirror them here. You can grab them yourself at the Google Code page. I have however attached the vWii installer by FIX94. Enjoy!

multiMan 04.15.00 Update

Deank is back once again with an update to MultiMan. This update brings a cool new feature: Remote Access.

MultiMan4.15.00′s Remote Access feature is amazing for a homebrew application. Not only can you remote into multiMan using your PC, but you can also connect to another PS3 running multiMan while on your PS3. Keep in mind, this is another update that must be installed on top of an already working 04.14.00. The full changelog is as follows:

04.15.00
* Updated PC application “ps3netsrv” to support fast folder-data retrieval
* Greatly improved loading of remote /net_host folders (up to 4096 entries in mmOS and 2048 in other modes)
* Greatly improved loading of remote Retro ROMs folders with covers
* Added support to access remote PS3 system in mmOS or in game modes via /net_host
- You can access all data of a remote PS3 to view/play photo/music/video files, transfer files/folders (and load ISO games/movies PS3/PSX/DVD/BD if used with Cobra CFW)
* Added option in “Settings” – “Connect to Another PS3″ – it allows full remote control (screen/pad) of another PS3 running multiMAN 04.15.00 and later
* Added option in “Settings” – “Remote Access Permissions” (Disable/Files/Screen/Full) to restrict remote connnections to your PS3
* Added support for mmRAS – PC application by Aldo (aldostools) which allows remote access to your PS3 (screen/pad) while running multiMAN
* Screenshot feature in multiMAN (START+R2) will now save screens as JPEG.

The new update is quite awesome. You can download it, as always, below.

HackMii Installer Released for Wii U: Homebrew Channel for All Wii’s

The HackMii team is back again with a new release of their HackMii Installer. This is the tool you need to get Homebrew Channel running on your Wii, and now your Wii U! That’s right, the Wii U is now running the Homebrew Channel. It’s your portal to running all types of homebrew on your Wii U.

The Homebrew Channel runs in a the Wii U’s Wii Virtual sandbox, with very light access to the Wii U operating system. Here is the official explanation from HackMii:

Despite all of the anti-reverse-engineering tricks we put into our last installment of the HackMii Installer, Nintendo managed to find the IOS exploit we used to install The Homebrew Channel and fix it sometime within the last two years. There never was a Wii system update for this, the fixed IOS versions can only be found on a Wii U.

They also blocked our old title ID. Consequently, we have a new release with a new version of The Homebrew Channel; this will install on both Wii consoles, and inside the virtual Wii sandbox inside the Wii U.  The currently used IOS exploit is courtesy of tueidj.

Please note that this is not running in full Wii U mode; running this on a Wii U will probably work just like on a Wii. (See if you can find any differences, we can all try to hack the Wii U together from inside Wii mode!)

Also, due to technical limitations of the virtual Wii mode, BootMii will not work on a Wii U. If we are able to resolve this, we will make a new release with BootMii support.

So enjoy homebrew on your Wii!

Team SGK 4.31 CFW v3.1

Right behind Rogero comes a new update from Team SGK. The new release bumps the release version to v3.1. Unlike the last time we saw an SGK release, this one is a lot more stable with a smaller risk of bricking.

Team SGK have built their firmware on top of Rebug 4.21 and Rogero’s 4.30, with some addition of 4.31 files to create a 4.21/4.31 hybrid custom firmware. Their pride of this release is an added SGKXMBM package manager.

Changelog:
PSN access
Added package SGKXMBM +
Lv1 Lv2 and recompiled.
Patched Peek & POKE
Coldboot replaced
Coldboot game replaced
Theme changed from dynamic watch dogs
More corrections

You can grab a download of the new firmware below.
